Overview
Splunk is an Operational Intelligence software platform, used by more than half of the Fortune 100 organisations, and more than 70% of the US Federal Government agencies. Operational Intelligence is a new category of software, helping organisations move from a reactive state to one of proactivity, and dealing with the Big Data challenges created by trying to collect, correlate and make sense out of the huge volume of machine-generated data being created every day.
Splunk customers see value in this data for many reasons, including Application Management, Business Analytics, Security and Compliance and Infrastructure and Datacentre Operations. Uniquely, many customers see value from Splunk in ALL of these areas, and value is typically seen in days and weeks, with ROI usually achieved in a matter of months.
The Splunk application suite uses a number of open source technologies including Linux, OpenSSL/PKI, Python/CherryPy, and Map Reduce.
